Meet the Sparta Leadership Team
Oxana K. Pickeral, Ph.D., MBA, is an accomplished technology executive with over 25 years of experience in healthcare and the life sciences, spanning from her work on the Human Genome Project to bioinformatics R&D and clinical trials innovation, to advanced analytics and patient engagement technologies. Prior to becoming the President and CEO of Sparta Systems, Dr. Pickeral was the Global Segment Leader for Healthcare and Life Sciences at AWS where she oversaw the AWS portfolio of technology and consulting partners with specialized offerings and innovative technology tools relevant to BioPharma, Genomics, Medical Device, Payers, Providers, and Agriculture, world-wide. She previously held C-level roles in a telehealth start-up, a health education & media nonprofit, was a Life Sciences practice lead at Booz Allen Hamilton, and served on various Boards of Directors and advisory industry boards. Dr. Pickeral holds a Ph.D. in Human Genetics and an MBA in Finance from Johns Hopkins University.
Martin Magazzolo is a dynamic business executive with over 27 years of experience providing transformational technology and services to the Healthcare and Life Sciences industry with an in-depth understanding of the Payer, Provider, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical network. Prior to joining Sparta, Marty held executive leadership positions at LexisNexis, AHM (IQVIA), and CSC (Computer Sciences Corporation), building strong leadership teams and performance driven cultures that focus on transforming solutions companies to higher growth, greater profitability and increased shareholder value. A native of New York, Marty graduated from Rutgers University with a B.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and holds an M.S. degree in Computer Engineering from Penn State University.
Ward Classen is an accomplished technology attorney with over thirty-five years’ experience in the software industry, having served as General Counsel of both public and privately held companies. A recognized thought leader, he has brought an innovative approach to efficiently delivering legal support on a global basis to many industry leaders. Ward holds a B.A. from Trinity College (Connecticut), a J.D. from Catholic University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author of The Practical Guide to Software Licensing and Cloud Computing published by the American Bar Association now in its seventh edition.
Prior to Sparta, Lesley Harris held delivery and services leadership roles at Sabre in both the Hospitality and Airline Services business units. During her tenure she accomplished multiple large-scale, complex software implementations capitalizing on best-in-class service and delivery capabilities while continuing to drive operating model process improvements. Harris is an energetic leader who motivates teams to drive operational efficiencies, grow service-generated revenue and improve customer satisfaction in order to deliver incremental value to the business.
Judy Fainor is a high-energy professional with over 25 years of software engineering experience including hands-on development, technical leadership and people management. She has a proven ability to be a thought leader, driving innovation, architecture, design and implementation. Judy’s experience working with and managing highly-skilled, over-achieving team members led to being recognized for leadership skills, work ethic and ability to drive change across an organization.
Sharon Marnien is an accomplished HR executive with a broad-based background in a variety of human resources roles, primarily with organizations undergoing significant growth and change. Before Sparta, Marnien was Director of Human Resources for Hartford Life Distributors, the sales and marketing division of The Hartford Financial Services Group. Prior to The Hartford, she spent over eight years at Lincoln Financial Group, where she was Head of Human Resources for Lincoln Financial Distributors.
David Medina is experienced in global marketing strategy development and implementation, sales management for information technology and services in regulated industries, cloud computing, SaaS software and analytics. Prior to Sparta, Medina was VP Solutions and Vertical Marketing at QAD, a cloud ERP software built for manufacturing. Medina has also held roles at Hewlett Packard, where he led HP’s global life sciences industry vertical segment, developing software and IT solutions for the life sciences market, and at Quintiles Consulting (now IQVIA), where he led the business development and marketing team providing quality management system consulting services to the life sciences industry.
Mike Rich has over 25 years’ experience, primarily in software and life sciences, driving business growth through forward-thinking, data-driven strategies, and command of complex global projects. Most recently, Mike spent 15 years at Roche Diabetes Care, where he led successful strategy implementation through strategic partnerships and M&A. Prior to that, Mike held roles of escalating responsibility ranging from software development, through product management, to general management at Double-Take Software, Thomson Multimedia, Cummins Engine Company, and General Motors. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Indiana University Kelley School Of Business.
Raj Janwadkar is a seasoned software product leader spanning across banking and financial domains. Before joining Sparta, Janwadkar served as Senior Director, Global Product Development and Cloud Platform Engineering at Diebold Nixdorf, responsible for end-to-end product development of enterprise scale banking applications. Janwadkar is a results driven and motivated leader, who has worked across all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) following metrics driven rigor and engineering best practices.
