Trenton, NJ – February 7, 2013 Recognizing the viable contributions technology-based firms make to the Garden State economy, Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno today visited software solutions provider Sparta Systems and thanked the company for their commitment to New Jersey. Sparta Systems recently opened its new 30,000 square-foot headquarters in Hamilton Township, Mercer County.

“With more scientists and engineers per square mile than anywhere in the world, Sparta Systems understands that New Jersey is an ideal location for technology-based firms,” said Lt. Governor Guadagno. “We’re pleased that Sparta Systems remains committed to the Garden State and our historic tradition of innovation.”

Sparta has more than 215 employees worldwide, up from 175 a year ago. The company received Business Employment Initiative and Business Retention and Relocation Assistance grants totaling more than $2 million from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, retaining and creating new jobs for New Jersey workers.

“Sparta was founded nearly 20 years ago in New Jersey. Since then, we have grown into a market leader in enterprise quality management solutions. We are proud to have over 500 customers globally in industries ranging from Pharmaceutical to Medical Device to Consumer Products and Electronics Manufacturing,” said Eileen Martinson, CEO of Sparta Systems. “Our growth was made largely possible due to our highly talented New Jersey-based workforce, and we are thoroughly committed to investing in the State’s economy and to supporting our local community.”

Recognized as a leader for its technology-based economy, New Jersey is fourth in the nation for moving toward a global, innovation based economy. New Jersey has the fourth fastest growing technology industry in the U.S., is ranked first nationally in broadband communications, and is the second largest information technology employer in the nation and home to well-known industry leaders.

Sparta’s award-winning technology helps companies investigate and determine the causes of “quality incidents”, develop plans to make sure such incidents don’t reoccur, and fulfill regulatory obligations.

Led by Lt. Governor Guadagno, the New Jersey Partnership for Action (PFA) supports the vital role business plays in advancing the state's economy and creating jobs. The PFA is a three-pronged public-private approach to economic development and the starting point for all initiatives, policies, and efforts to grow New Jersey's economy and create quality, sustainable jobs in our communities. The three elements of the PFA include the Business Action Center, reporting directly to the Lt. Governor and providing the business community with a single point of contact, applying a proactive, customer-service approach to businesses' interactions with State government; the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, serving as the state's "bank for business"; and Choose New Jersey, an independently funded and operated 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation created to encourage and nurture economic growth throughout New Jersey.

Businesses considering a move or in need of assistance are encouraged to call New Jersey's Business Action Center at (866) 534-7789 or visit the State's Business Portal at www.newjerseybusiness.gov.
