  • Sparta Systems Launches Hong Kong Operations to Drive Enterprise Quality and Compliance in Asia-Pacific Region

Regional and Industry Veterans to Serve Global Manufacturers with APAC Presence for Managing Complex Supply Chains

HOLMDEL, NJ – June 1, 2009 – Sparta Systems, Inc., the maker of TrackWise® software and the market leader in enterprise quality and compliance management solutions, today announced that it has opened Hong Kong operations to expand its global footprint and drive quality and compliance standards in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. To lead this initiative, Sparta Systems has appointed industry veteran Critz Chan to serve as the managing director of APAC and set the business strategy, drive overall sales and support customer deployments for the region.

Regulatory mandates for quality in the life science industry differ around the world, with regulators and manufacturers alike struggling to ensure compliance across lengthening global supply chains. With an ever-growing number of global suppliers and stakeholders in emerging regions, companies constantly seek to improve operational efficiencies, streamline processes and drive returns in this highly competitive worldwide manufacturing market. More than ever, quality management across global operations has become a necessity.

According to IMS Health’s annual study, “Global Pharmaceutical Market Size & Growth by Region 2008,” while the global market has only a two-to-three percent increase in sales forecasted for 2009, emerging markets, including China and India, are predicted to continue double-digit growth figures through at least 2013. To support the growing marketplace, APAC managing director Critz Chan has already begun building his team, bringing on board a quality and regulatory compliance expert to run the sales support department.

Over the course of his 25-year career, Chan has utilized his sales leadership and general management experience in supporting United States companies to establish, operate and continue expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to joining Sparta Systems, he served as the vice president of sales and general manager for APAC at NMS Communications and held a number of key positions at General DataComm, Prime Computer, McKeown Software and Paxus Finance Software.

By 2013, IMS Health predicts China will be the third-largest pharmaceutical market, making it critical for organizations in this region to adopt enterprise-wide processes for managing quality and compliance with existing and expanding regulations. As the leading provider of Enterprise Quality Management Solutions in U.S. and European life sciences markets, Sparta Systems has the experience, solutions and support to help organizations reduce supply chain risks with its industry-leading TrackWise solution. “The APAC region is a critical center for global manufacturers in regulated industries, and Sparta Systems sees a great opportunity to drive quality efforts in this market while expanding our global presence,” said James E. McGowan, CEO of Sparta Systems. “We recognize that suppliers, manufacturers and distributors require our expertise for enabling enterprise quality management and global compliance best practices. We plan to support these organizations while helping improve product supply quality for companies on a global scale.”
