If you’re a dynamic and strategic sales leader in the technology sector, Sparta has an exciting opportunity for you. Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, the Business Development Manager will lead a team of Business Development Representatives responsible for prospecting, identifying, developing, and opening new sales opportunities that lead to closed business.

Required skills:
Required Skills/Responsibilities:

•    Manage a team of Business Development Representatives (BDRs) including coaching, training and motivating of BDR team to:

o    Develop and deliver messages that speak to the prospect’s needs, concerns and objectives.
o    Generate market position by identifying, developing, and opening new sales opportunities.
o    Prospect for new customers and open new opportunities that lead to closed business.
o    Plan for BDR cold call approaches and pitches.
o    Screen potential opportunities or leads for quality and solutions alignment.
o    Identify lead trends by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements.
o    Cold call as appropriate within designated market or geographic areas to ensure a robust pipeline of sales opportunities.
o    Identify new prospects, as well as the decision makers within the prospect’s organization.
o    Research and build relationships with prospects.
o    Coordinate meetings between prospect decision makers and Sparta Account Executives.
•    Develop a strategic plan to ensure Sales Directors and Account Executives receive sales and inside business development support across their respective verticals and accounts
•    Evaluate and set internal BDR priorities.
•    Set goals and track team performance, activity and accomplishments.

People Management & Accountabilities:

•    Identify and recruit internal/external talent to ensure effective mix of competencies within the team.
•    Effectively on-board new hires in order to quickly maximize performance.
•    Set and communicate team/individual objectives and key performance indicators to motivate individuals to achieve high performance.
•    Allocate work load to fully utilize every employee’s skills and abilities.
•    Implement development plans and coach individuals to reach their maximum potential.
•    Provide ongoing constructive feedback on performance and address development needs in a timely manner.
•    Recognize high performers to maintain motivation and retain key talent.
•    Regularly communicate relevant company information and progress against business plan.
•    Provide opportunities for team development and interaction.
Preferred Skills:
Qualifications/Skills Requirements:

•    5+ years of demonstrated successful sales experience within the Life Sciences industry as well as experience with Salesforce or other SaaS software tools required. Must have specific market knowledge.
•    3+ years managing a team of inside sales or business development representatives. 
•    Sales experience should include the following specific skill sets:
o    Closing (MEDDICC experience preferred)
o    Customer prospecting 
o    Sales planning
o    Selling to customer needs
o    Market knowledge
•    Excellent client facing skills with ability to engage with and present to all level of customer through to senior and key executives – minimum 5+ years of experience.
•    Demonstrated performance competencies: action oriented and collaborative.
•    Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
•    Should be willing to travel for at least 10-15% of time.
