As a senior member of Sparta's SaaS/Engineering Ops & IT team, the Manager, SaaS/Engineering Operations and IT will be a key player in ensuring that the customer facing SaaS/Engineering services are operating at SLA or better levels and that IT is a business enabler for the Mumbai office staff. Sparta’s SaaS Operations are a critical component of our cloud-based solution for large global enterprise businesses. From a SaaS Operations perspective, the Manager, SaaS/Engineering Operations and IT will work closely with Product Management, R&D, Architecture, Customer Support, Professional Services, and partners to ensure our SaaS services in AWS and meet our support and availability SLAs. The Manager will coordinate with US based operations to handle security, compliance, growth, maintenance, and deployment operations with a local Mumbai based team. From an Engineering Ops perspective, the Manager, SaaS/Engineering Operations and IT will work closely with Product Management, R&D, Architecture, Customer Support, Professional Services, and partners to ensure Engineering Ops services with build automation, metrics and QA operations are meeting the needs of the teams. The Manager will coordinate with US based engineering operations to handle build automation and metrics with a local Mumbai based team. From an IT Operations perspective the Manager, SaaS/Engineering Operations and IT will work closely with the US IT team to be a business enabler and drive improved operational efficiency for the Mumbai R&D and Customer Support operations. This will include troubleshooting and repair of local devices, new system deployment, setup and maintenance of LAN, and systems maintenance during non-US business hours amongst other standard IT responsibilities.
Required Skills:
  • Thorough understanding of AWS systems and services from a security, deployment, efficiency, and cost perspective.  Certification preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of deployment methodologies to minimize down time – including the blue/green deployment model
  • Experienced in the development, operations, monitoring, and continuous improvement of technology services, platforms, and processes to support a high degree of Customer Experience
  • Ability to plan and execute roadmaps to implement Continuous Delivery and Site Reliability by determining the velocity, cadence, applicability, and product direction
  • Solid experience in network infrastructure and architecture and the ability to guide the SaaS and IT operations staff

  • Experience with various build automation, metrics and operations needs for the product management, R&D, Architecture and QE teams
  • Analysis, selection and modification of enterprise systems, application software, installation of network hardware/software and database management. 
  • Provides direction for the effort required to protect the company’s data, tools, and information systems. 
  • Ensures infrastructure architecture standards maximize efficiency and support platform compatibility. 
  • Coordinates delivery of services to user groups and ensures IT service is uninterrupted. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. 
  • Consults with various departments on information systems, communications, and other initiatives. 
  • Researches, recommends, acquires, and implements vendor provided solutions/tools in line with Sparta’s tactical and strategic goals
  • Performs all aspects of project management, scheduling & prioritizing activities, staffing, technical design, and technical review to ensure key milestones are met and successful completion of projects is achieved.
  • Responsible for the establishment and adherence of standards and methods for developing and deploying applications.  
  • Defines an application or infrastructure architecture and framework for deploying and developing business applications.
  • Main point of contact for requests and proactive involvement in solving business problems with technology solutions.
  • Support the functions with economic justifications of build vs. buy decisions for application deployment.
  • Keeps informed of new developments and trends; makes recommendations to senior management on desirable additions or replacements.
  • Assists department managers in selection and setup of applications for their usage.
  • Works through managers in setting and implementing standards, priorities, and schedules.
  • Must be able to work extended hours as needed supporting their team to work effectively in a global operations support model.
People Management:
  • Identify and recruit internal/external talent to ensure effective mix of competencies within the team
  • Effectively on-board new hires to quickly maximize performance
  • Set and communicate team/individual objectives and key performance indicators to motivate individuals to achieve high performance
  • Allocate workload to fully utilize every employee’s skills and abilities
  • Implement development plans and coach individuals to reach their maximum potential
  • Provide ongoing constructive feedback on performance and address development needs in a timely manner
  • Recognize high performers to maintain motivation and retain key talent
  • Regularly communicate relevant company information and progress against business plan
  • Provide opportunities for team development and interaction
Preferred Skills:
  • Successful completion of a Bachelors’ degree in a relevant program of study or equivalent work experience is required.  
  • Relevant post graduate qualifications and professional memberships are preferred. 
    Overall experience in the range of 14+ years with at least 7 years of experience in a large-scale engineering and SaaS operations support
